Statistical Highlights of the BBL 6
In the BBL 6 final, what turned out to be a completely one-sided affair, Perth Scorchers once again regained the title defeating Sydney Sixers by 9 wickets at the WACA in Perth. After being put into bat, the Sydney side were blown away by Perth’s pace attack and managed to post a 141-run total on the board thanks to a lower-middle order fight.
In the chase, Sam Whiteman gave a quick start to his side before Michael Klinger carried things on with Ian Bell. He finished off the chase with a six as the home side won its 3rd BBL titles out of the 6 season. Here we look at all the numbers and records set during the tournament.
3 – The semi-final between Sydney Sixers and Brisbane Heat was only the 3rd tied game in BBL history. Sydney Sixers were a part of all the 3 tied matches.
4 – Number of dismissals Brad Haddin effected in the semi-final against Brisbane Heat, the 2nd most by any keeper in a BBL game. Tom Triffitt effected 5 dismissals in a game in 2012/13 season.

6/11 – Ish Sodhi’s bowling figures of 6/11 are the 2nd best bowling figures in the BBL history. It is also only the 2nd 6-wicket haul in BBL.
7 – Number of 5-wicket hauls recorded in BBL so far. Three of them have come in this season alone.
9 – Number of catches Ashely Turner took in this BBL season, the most by anyone. In fact, nine catches are the most by anyone in a single BBL edition. Steven Smith in 2011/12 and Nathan Hauritz in 2012/13 also took nine catches as fielders.
11 – Number of dismissals effected by Brad Haddin in this season, the most by any wicketkeeper. Only 3 players made more dismissals in a single BBL edition.
20 – Wickets taken by Sean Abbott in this BBL season, he became the first player to take 20 wickets in a BBL season. Cameroon Gannon and Clint McKay took 18 wickets each in 2013/14 and 2015/16 season.
21 – Number of dot balls Mitchell Johnson bowled in the semi-final against Melbourne Stars, the most by any bowler in a single game in BBL history.
26 – Number of sixes Chris Lynn has hit in this season of Big Bash, the most by anyone. These are also the 2nd most sixes hit by a batsman in a BBL edition. The highest is 27 by Lynn himself in 2015/16.
60 – Balls remaining when Sydney Thunder chased down the 100-run target set by Sydney Sixers in the season is the 2nd biggest margin of victory in terms of balls remaining in BBL history.
99/9 – Sydney Sixers’ total of 99/9 after batting 20 overs against Sydney Thunder is the lowest total in this BBL season. This is also the only under-100 total in this season in a completed innings.
114 – Ben McDermott’s 114 against Melbourne Renegades is the highest individual score in this BBL season and the 2nd highest overall behind Luke Wright’s 117.
151 – Partnership stand between Ben McDermott and George Bailey for the 3rd wicket against Melbourne Renegades, the highest partnership for any wicket in this season. This is the 4th stand and the highest stand for non-opening wicket in Big Bash history.
223/8 – Hobart Hurricanes’ total of 223/8 while chasing Melbourne Renegades’ 222/4 is the highest total in this season. These two totals stand at top of the BBL highest totals list as they went past the previous BBL highest total of 210 held Hobart Hurricanes and Melbourne Renegades only during 2013/14 season.
364 – Runs scored by Ben Dunk in this Big Bash League season, the most by anyone. Only 4 players including Ben Dunk (395) in 2013/14 aggregated more in a BBL edition.
