In his next over, Mudhasir ended Chetan’s 159-run knock that came off 294 deliveries with 24 fours. On the very next ball, the pacer trapped TN Dhillon in front and soon completed a hat-trick by dismissing Rahul Chahar in a similar fashion. Earlier in 2017, Mudhasir became the first J&K player to take a hat-trick in any format when he got one in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Mohammed Mudhasir accomplished a rare feat by taking four wickets in four deliveries when he trapped TM ul-Haq on the very next ball. Thus, he also became the first bowler in the history of first-class cricket to take four wickets in four balls and all of them were lbws. There is a total of 45 instances in FC cricket when bowlers took four in four which includes four with all bowled dismissals. Overall, Mudhasir is only the 3rd player to take four wickets in four deliveries in Indian first-class cricket.
The first of them was by Sadanand Mohol while playing for Indian Board President’s XI in 1965/66 season. He did it against a team with quite a big name: “Maharashtra Small Savings Minister’s and Life Insurance Company’s Chairman’s Combined XI”. Shankar Saini took four in four while playing for Delhi in 1988/89 season. He is the only other player to have done this in the Ranji Trophy. Maharashtra’s Shrikant Mundhe claimed four in four deliveries in a List A game in 2013/14.
