Stats: Most number of ducks in T20 cricket by Pakistani players

The 8th match of the Caribbean Premier League’s (CPL) 5th edition witnessed Shoaib Malik, Kamran Akmal and Shane Watson getting out for ducks with all of them being dismissed on the very first ball they faced. Malik, who played for the Barbados Tridents cut the first ball he faced into hands of the point fielder while Akmal and Watson bagged ducks in consecutive overs for St Lucia Stars.

With this duck, Kamran Akmal’s tally increased to Twenty20 cricket to 18 putting him equal along with four other players who also have 18 ducks in this format. So far only 6 players have bagged more than 18 ducks with Dwayne Smith standing at the top with 26 ducks. Kamran’s younger brother Umar Akmal (24) bagged the 2nd most number of ducks in Twenty20s.

Among Pakistan players, Kamran now stands behind his brother Umar along with Shahid Afridi, who also bagged 18 ducks in his T20 career. Five Pakistan players have bagged 15 and more ducks in their Twenty20 career till date.

Malik, who bagged a duck in this game, was the only 8th time he was dismissed in his Twenty20 career without scoring a run. Shoaib Malik has played 258 innings in this format and his innings-per-duck rate of 32.25 is the 5th best among the players who have featured in 150 and more innings. Malik’s average innings-per-duck in T20s was 36.71 before this game and he stood at 4th behind the Australians who grabbed the top 3 spots.
