Stats: Most wickets in Tests since 2011

Test Cricket, the longest and oldest format of the game, still exists and is also the most loved format even now where the world is completely dominated by T20 cricket and all the various T20 Leagues. The T10 league and The Hundred have also been introduced but wearing whites remains every cricketer’s dream. Speaking of the format, taking 20 wickets in a Test is what a captain hopes from his bowlers. Since 2011, two English bowlers have been able to do it excellently for their team.

Talking about the two England bowlers, the lethal pair of James Anderson and Stuart Broad are almost going neck-to-neck with 427 and 425 wickets respectively in Tests since 2011. The pair has always been consistent especially in home conditions, they are always considered as their captain’s go-to bowler. The duo has dominated Test cricket for a long time now and is one of the best pair alongside New Zealand’s Tim Southee and Trent Boult, South Africa’s Dale Steyn, and Morne Morkel. Anderson and Broad are only two of the three bowlers with over 400 wickets in this period. Alongside Anderson, the top spot in the list is occupied by India’s R Ashwin who has 427 scalps to his name.

The fourth and fifth names are spinners again as Nathan Lyon (403) and the retired Rangana Herath achieving 355 scalps. The ever-reliable Kiwi pair Tim Southee and Trent Boult are sixth and seventh with the mates also having the almost same number of batsmen dismissed as 293 and 292 respectively. The experienced New Zealand new-ball pace attackers have been serving the nation for over a decade now.

Mitchell Starc, the Australian pace battery, finds himself on number 8. He has accumulated 258 wickets in these 10 years time leading the Kangaroos bowling attack. Another spinner, fourth in total in the list, Pakistan’s Yasir Shah makes the cut on number nine. He has taken the responsibility superbly after the retirement of Danish Kaneria.

The 10th place on this list is occupied by Ravindra Jadeja, who’s one of the finest all-rounders going around. Meanwhile, all these bowlers apart from Herath would hope to continue taking wickets for their team as to win a Test you need to strike 20 times in a match.
