MS Dhoni has carried on from where he left in Sri Lanka as the wicketkeeper-batsman continued to rewrite records in the ODI series against Australia. At his 2nd home Chennai, Dhoni once again got India out of early troubles and guided them to a formidable total of 281/7 in 50 overs. In this process, he scored his 66th ODI fifty which is his 100th in International cricket adding 33 fifties in Test cricket and one in T20Is.
Thus Dhoni became only the 4th Indian and also the 14th player in International cricket with 100 scores between 50 and 99. Besides these 100 fifties, Dhoni also scored ten centuries in ODIs and six in Test cricket. The former Indian captain broke the record for most not outs in ODIs and Internationals and also became the first wicketkeeper to effect 100 stumpings in the ODI format.
With help of his 79-run knock in the 1st ODI, Dhoni also went past 4000 runs in the ODI format while playing for India at home. Thus he became only the 2nd player after Sachin Tendulkar to aggregate 4000 ODI runs at home while playing for India. Dhoni is also only the 9th player with over 4000 runs in ODI cricket for a team at home.
