Stats: Prithvi Shaw hits his third fifty in a row in Youth Tests

The young sensation Prithvi Shaw started off his Youth Test career on a good note as he struck fifties in his first three innings in this format. The 17-year-old struck 86 and 69 respectively in the first Youth Test against England at Chesterfield and followed it with a 51 in the first innings of the 2nd Youth Test at Worcester.
By scoring fifties in the first three innings, Prithvi Shaw became only the 7th player in this format to score fifty-plus scores in career’s first three innings in Youth Tests. For India, only Sridharan Sharath had such start to his Youth Test career. Australia’s Dean Reynolds is the only player who has scored fifty-plus in each of his first 4 innings in Youth Tests.

Prithvi Shaw is also only the 7th Indian player to have fifty-plus scores in 3 or more consecutive innings in Youth Test cricket. Among the 7 players, only Abhinav Mukund has scored 4 fifty-plus scores in Youth Tests. The last Indian player before Prithvi to hit 3 consecutive fifty-plus scores in this format was Mukund only who did it in 2007 shortly after Ajinkya Rahane achieved the feat.
