However, Root is one of the highest run-getters ever after playing 100 matches in the coloured clothing for his country.
The 27-year-old batsman 4164 runs in 94 innings at an amazing average of 51.41. He has also managed to score all his runs at a strike rate of 86.86. On his way to the milestone, the talented cricketer has smashed 10 centuries and 25 half-centuries. Interestingly, he is fourth in the list of highest run-getters and is sitting pretty along with the some of the current and former legends the game has ever seen.

The top player on the charts is none other than Hashim Amla of South Africa who had amassed a staggering 4808 runs in 97 innings at an average of 53.42 with as many as 16 tons and 25 half-centuries. David Warner, who is second in this list, is way behind him with 4217 runs in 98 outings out of his 100 matches in ODIs at a fearsome strike rate of 96.74 which is highest among everyone in this illustrious chart.
The likes of Gordon Greenidge and Viv Richards are the only former cricketers among the list of modern cricketers. Joe Root, however, has the third highest average is looking hungry for more in the ongoing series against Australia. The Indian skipper Virat Kohli is the last man among these legends who had scored 4107 runs after 100 matches in the limited overs format at an average of 48.89, highest score being 183.
