Rising Pune Supergiants player Steve Smith expressed his disappointment on being ruled out of the Indian Premier League following a wrist injury. The Aussie skipper took to Instagram to post a picture of fans and wrote a message for his fans.
He expressed how disappointed he was on leaving India so soon. He also mentioned that he loves playing in India and the kind of love the people show for the game in India is unmatched. He further hoped that his team, Rising Pune Supergiants, can do better in the coming matches.
He wrote, “So disappointed to have had to leave India and my team mates at Pune so soon. I love playing in India and the IPL. The passion of the fans is unbelievable and they always make me feel so welcome. I want to thank the owners, team management and the sponsors for everything they did for me during my stay. Hope the Supergiants can make a late run for the finals. See everyone again next year. #DumKaNayaRang”.
Steve Smith had to bow out of the tournament due a wrist injury. He had been in a phenomenal run in the tournament for an underperforming Rising Pune Supergiants. He got starts on most occasions and was just peaking at the right time when the team needed him. He hit a brilliant century against the Gujarat Lions and followed it up with a swashbuckling 45 off just 23 balls against the Mumbai Indians.
Smith was asked to fly back home as a precautionary measure after the right-handed batsman sustained a wrist injury.
