‘Still have that in my house’ – Virat Kohli recalls first picture with Rahul Dravid, snap goes viral
Kohli became only the 12th Indian and overall 71st player to complete 100 Test matches.
The ongoing first Test match between India and Sri Lanka in Mohali marks Virat Kohli’s 100th appearance in the format. One of the greatest batters to have graced the game, Kohli was felicitated with a special cap ahead of the game by none other than team’s head coach Rahul Dravid. While doing the honours, Dravid lavished massive praises on the 33-year-old and his contribution towards Indian cricket.
Notably, Kohli became only the 12th Indian and overall 71st player to have got the landmark. Needless to mention, he was delighted after receiving his 100th Test cap and the same was evident in his speech. The right-handed batter recalled how he idolized Dravid while growing up and also remembered his first meeting with the former Indian captain in 2006.
Virat Kohli receives honour from ‘childhood hero’ Rahul Dravid
Kohli added that he still has the picture at his home. “I couldn’t have received it from a better person (Rahul Dravid), one of my childhood heroes. I still have the picture in my house from my U-15 NCA days, when I was looking at you while getting a picture with you! Today, I get my 100th Test cap from you, so indeed it has been a great journey and one that continues to grow hopefully,” said the 33-year-old.
Soon after Kohli’s speech, the old picture, which he was referring, went viral in no time. Sharing the same, RCB tweeted: “How it started, How it’s going! From one legend to another. #PlayBold #TeamIndia #INDvSL #VK100 #ViratKohli #ViratKohli100thTest.”
Meanwhile, Kohli was standing alongside his wife Anushka Sharma while receiving the honour. Many other members of his family were also present at the venue. “My wife is here, my brother is here in the stadium. All my family members, my coach from childhood, all are very proud. To all my teammates, thank you so much for your support over the years. It is indeed a team game and this journey couldn’t have been possible without all of you,” Kohli added.
