The fans called him hypocrite, after digging out his old tweets in which he professed his love for crackers.
Diwali is perhaps one of the most delightful and amazing festivals in the world, given that it combines lights and sounds in order to celebrate the win of good over evil. Diwali or Deepavali is called the festival of lights, as according to Hindu sacred texts, citizens of Ayodhya celebrated the return of Lord Ram back from the 14 years of exile after defeating and killing demon Ravana.
People celebrate it with lighting clay oil lamps called diyas or deeps, hence Deepavali and by bursting firecrackers. However, in recent times, it has become a trend for environmental activists and celebrities calling for people to not use crackers in order to keep the pollution levels down and also because stray animals and pets get anxiety attacks after hearing the loud sounds.
