Stuart MacGill slapped with Apprehended Domestic Violence by girlfiend

A few years following his retirement from all forms of cricket, Stuart MacGill is back in the news in recent times after his girlfriend Julie Singleton slapped him with an AVO (Apprehended Domestic Violence) charge. MacGill will be the second celebrity entering the Waverly Local Court in Sydney in recent times, with Anthony Bell also set to appear to answer an AVO taken out on behalf of his TV presenter wife Kelly Landry.

The AVO also comes with a handy restraining order for Singleton wherein MacGill will not be allowed anywhere within a 100-meter radius of the assaulted’s place.

Moreover, he is also not allowed to destroy any property of Singleton and is only allowed to speak to her in the presence of her lawyers. MacGill split with his wife of 14 years, journalist Rachael Friend, in 2014. He has dated Julie Singleton ever since.

Having been a member of the Sydney Cricket Ground Trust since 2015, MacGill sued Cricket Australia the same year. The lawsuit was to the tune of $2.6 million, claiming the organization failed to pay him for two years when he was injured after playing for Australia.

MaacGill, who played his cricket under the shadow of Shane Warne for the better part of his career, went ahead and announced his retirement from the sport in 2008. He played 44 Test matches for the Australians from 1998 to 2008 and also ensured that he helped himself to 208 wickets.
