Match Details:

The 1st match of the Super50 Cup 2021 will be played between the Leeward Islands and the Windward Islands on 7th February, at Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua.

The match is scheduled to start at 9:00 AM local time (6:30 PM IST) and it will be streamed live on Fancode.

Preview:

Domestic cricket has returned to West Indies after a long gap of 14 long months, in the form of 50-over format. Last year’s runners up the Leeward Islands will be up against the Windward Islands in the opening game of the Super50 Cup 2021 on Sunday. Leewards Islands had a good tournament last year till the finals, where they lost badly against West Indies Emerging Team by 205 runs. They have got Kieron Powell and Sheeno Berridge in their ranks, who were last year’s leading run-scorer and leading wicket-taker respectively.

On the other hand, Windward Islands had a terrible tournament last year as they finished 4th in the Group B standings, winning only 2 matches. Kerron Cottoy and Alick Athanaze had a decent run with both bat & ball. They have signed experienced campaigner Sunil Ambris this year and he will be a man to watch out for the Windward Islands. They look forward to improving their last year’s performance and play better cricket in this year’s Super 50 Cup.

LEI vs WNI Weather Report for Match 1:

It will be sunny throughout the day in Antigua, with a temperature of 27 degrees Celsius. The humidity will be 65 percent. There is no chance of precipitation for this match.

Pitch Condition/Report:

The pitch here at the Coolidge Cricket Ground is a bit on the slower side and scoring more than 300 runs is a hard task on this ground. Slow bowlers will be key for both teams, anything between 260-270 is a competitive score on this ground. The surface might slow down in the latter half. Considering this, whoever wins the toss should bat first.
