Suryakumar Yadav showed Virat Kohli he isn't inferior to anyone, doesn't fear one: Virender Sehwag
Suryakumar is in red-hot form in the 2020 IPL.
Match no.48 offered the fans a blistering battle of bat and ball between MI and RCB. As Kieron Pollard’s MI and Virat Kohli’s RCB locked horns against each other, an embellished chapter was written in the illustrious book of the Indian Premier League. Not to everyone’s surprise, Suryakumar Yadav, once again, rose to the occasion only to take the blue outfit to cross the line of triumph.
Meanwhile what caught the eyes of everyone was an incident which has split social media into two sides. During the 13th over of the match, Kohli was seen walking up to Suryakumar and saying something while shining the ball. The right-handed batsman, however, kept his composure and displayed remarkable maturity by just walking away from the RCB skipper.
Earlier this week, a piece of shocking news took every Indian fan by surprise. As it happened, Suryakumar was excluded from the Indian squad touring Australia in the next month despite enough runs under his belt. Hence, fans and experts have been pouring love and support on the prodigy. Of late, Virender Sehwag has put forth his comments regarding the heated controversy.
Suryakumar Yadav doesn’t fear anything, says Sehwag
Sehwag heaped praises on the top-order renegade. Moreover, the cricketing stalwart believed that SKY isn’t inferior to anyone as he has been doing the talking with the bat on a regular basis.
“It was a phenomenal match. The innings played by Suryakumar Yadav was incredible. He showed Virat Kohli that he isn’t inferior to anyone (in reference to the selection snub for the Australia tour). There was a moment where Suryakumar played a shot towards Kohli and then two had a stare-off where the former asserted once again that he doesn’t fear anything or anyone,” said Sehwag.
The veteran Indian swashbuckler also admitted that there have been cases in Indian cricket before too where some top performers, despite putting in stupendous shows in domestic cricket, didn’t get to represent the national team. But he is hopeful that it won’t be the same case with Yadav.
“There have been numerous players in the domestic circuit who didn’t get the opportunity in the Indian team despite top performances. I feel IPL is a platform where you will get opportunities if you are doing well. Varun Chakravarthy is a fine example of the same,” Sehwag added.
The Mumbai Indians star performer has bagged massive 362 runs in 12 outings justifying his position in the team of greats. It is expected that the lanky charm will get a chance sooner for his brilliant willow-work in domestic cricket as well.
Talking about the match, the Bangalore-based outfit batted first on a wicket which was apparently flat in appearance. The opening duo set up a solid-foundation stone of 71 runs. However, much to the relief of Mumbai Indians, the men in red were trammelled to 164 runs.
Thanks to the bowling quartet spearheaded by Jasprit Bumrah. In reply, Suryakumar Yadav proved his mettle. The 29-year-old notched 79 runs laced up with 10 fours and three sixes.
