Both teams did well during the group stage encounters as Lancashire finished in the second position in the North Group, while Essex was placed at the third spot in the South Group points table after the league stage matches.

Lancashire managed to beat Warwickshire by just two wickets during their last match. Meanwhile, Essex won by a huge margin of 69 runs after scoring a massive 254 runs against Glamorgan during their last group stage match.
