Leask recovers Scotland
After being put in to bat first, Scotland got off to a terrible start. Ruben Trumpelmann picked up the wickets of George Munsey, Calum Macleod and Richie Berrington in the very first over of the game. Craig Wallace, who replaced an injured Kyle Coetzer, became David Wiese’s first victim with Scotland’s score at 18. Matthew Cross put his head down for his 19 before Jan Frylinck got his wicket.
Frylinck was excellent with the ball as he conceded only 10 runs in his quota of four overs. Thereafter, Michael Leask and Chris Greaves put on 36 runs for the sixth wicket to inject some momentum into the innings. Leask was the more attacking of the two as he stayed unbeaten on 44 runs off 27 with the help of four fours and two sixes. Greaves contributed with a handy 32-ball 25.
Namibia win in close encounter
Namibia started their run-chase in a steady manner as openers Craig Williams and Michael van Lingen stitched together a 28-run stand off 5.3 overs. Safyaan Sharif gave Scotland their first breakthrough, getting rid of Van Lingen, who made 18 off 24. Zane Green, who was demoted to No.3, hit a four to score nine before leg-spinner Greaves got his wicket in the 10th over.
Williams played well for his 29-ball 23 after which Mark Watt got him stumped. JJ Smit and David Wiese added 35 runs for the fifth wicket to take Namibia closer to victory. Wiese hit a six in his 16 before he fell prey to Leask. In the end, Smit smashed Sharif for a six over point to take Namibia home with five balls to spare. Smit stayed unbeaten on 32 off 23 with two fours and as many sixes.
