T20 World Cup 2021, Match 22: Australia vs Sri Lanka, Stats Review: Aaron Finch, David Warner accomplish milestones during Australia’s stellar win
Aaron Finch became the first Australian and fifth batter overall to complete 2,500 T20I runs.
Australia recorded their second win on the trot in T20 World Cup 2021 after defeating Sri Lanka by seven wickets. It was indeed a comprehensive win from the Aussies as contributions came in from all departments. While David Warner and Aaron Finch shone with the bat, Mitchell Starc and Adam Zamp were the stand-out bowlers. As far as Sri Lanka are concerned, many loopholes in their ship were exposed.
Speaking of how the game panned out, the Aussies elected to bowl after winning the toss at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The likes of Kusal Perera and Charith Asalanka got substantial starts but they couldn’t play an impact knock. Bhanuka Rajapaksa did play some fine shots in the end overs as the Lankan Lions posted 154/6, which was deemed pretty decent on this track.
However, the Aussies faced no problems whatsoever in crossing the line. Openers David Warner and Aaron Finch attacked bowlers from the outset as Sri Lanka got knocked out in the powerplay overs. Warner even went on to score a half-century as the Aussies crossed the line in 17 overs, winning the contest by seven wickets.
