Shahzad top-scores for Afghanistan
After opting to bat first, the Afghans racked up a competitive score of 160 for the loss of five wickets. Bowlers strangle Namibia
Namibia got off to a disastrous start as they scored 29 runs and lost three wickets inside the powerplay. Even as Naveen-ul-Haq dismissed Craig Williams and Michael van Lingen, Gulbadin Naib accounted for Loftie-Eaton’s wicket. Namibia lost half their side when Hamid Hassan sent Gerhard Erasmus back to the hut. Soon after, the wily Rashid Khan castled Zane Green to cut short his stay.
Smit was impressive with the ball, but he was unable to open his account with the bat. Jan Frylinck and Pikky Ya France couldn’t survive for long either. David Wiese, at the other end, looked solid amidst the fall of wickets. Wiese’s vigil came to an end after Hassan rattled his woodwork. Naveen and Hassan got three wickets apiece. Gulbadin was impressive as he ended with figures of 4-0-19-1.
