Another day and another win for South Africa! Their quest of finding a place in the T20 World Cup 2021 semi-finals is definitely on the right track. Bangladesh were the latest to go down against the Proteas side. In yet another low-scoring game of the tournament, Temba Bavuma’s men thrashed the Tigers by six wickets to record their third victory on the trot. This defeat also officially ended Bangladesh’s chances of going through to the knockout stage.
As far as the proceedings of the game are concerned, South Africa invited Bangladesh to bat first after winning the all-important toss at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Speedsters Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje breathed fire with the new ball as the Tigers never really looked in the hunt. Veterans like Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah were also dismissed cheaply as Bangladesh got skittled out for 84.
South Africa’s chase didn’t start off smoothly as the likes of Quinton de Kock and Reeza Hendricks were dismissed cheaply. The in-form Aiden Markram also bagged a duck. However, Rassie van der Dussen joined forces with skipper Bavuma and it was one-way traffic since then. The duo added 47 runs for the fourth wicket and took South Africa to a six-wicket triumph.
