T20 World Cup 2021, Match 32: New Zealand vs Scotland, Stats Review: Martin Guptill rewrites record books as Blackcaps cross the line
Martin Guptill became the first batter to complete 150 sixes in T20I cricket.
New Zealand are inching closer towards a berth in the T20 World Cup 2021 semi-final. They thrashed Scotland by 16 runs in their latest fixture and would be pretty happy with their performance. Although the Scottish side did put up a commendable fight, they couldn’t upset the Kane Williamson-led side. Having suffered their third successive defeat in the Super 12 stage, Scotland now are officially out of the semi-final race.
Earlier in the game, Scotland invited the Blackcaps to bat after winning the toss at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. Having lost Daryl Mitchell, Kane Williamson, and Devon Conway cheaply, the Kiwi side didn’t get off to a fine start. However, Martin Guptill unleashed his A-game and played a fiery 93-run knock. Glenn Phillips supported him well as New Zealand posted 172/5 in their allotted 20 overs.
Chasing the challenging total, Scotland showed some fine intent. However, regular fall of wickets meant the Kiwis were always on command. Subsequently, they were restricted to 156/5, losing the contest by 163 runs.
