Bangladesh are all geared up to face England in their second Super 12 match of the T20 World Cup 2021 on Wednesday, October 27 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The Tigers, led by Mahmudullah, came into the second round after comprehensive victories against PNG and Oman.

But Sri Lanka beat them by five wickets on Sunday, October 24 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. After being put in to bat first, the Tigers scored 171 for the loss of four wickets, but Lanka chased the target down in 18.5 overs. Bangladesh are yet to lock horns with England in T20Is until now.

Here is Bangladesh’s predicted Playing XI for ENG vs BAN Match:

Openers- Liton Das, Mohammad Naim

Mohammad Naim has arguably been the standout batter for Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup. He scored a half-century against Oman and followed it up with a duck against PNG. But he made a comeback and notched a 52-ball 62, laced with six fours. Naim had replaced Soumya Sarkar in the eleven.

Liton Das, on the other hand, has blown hot and cold to a large extent. The Dinajpur-born batter has got quite a few starts but hasn’t been able to convert them. He got a run-a-ball 16 against Lanka before Lahiru Kumara accounted for his wicket. He also dropped two catches in the outfield.

Middle-Order- Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah, Nurul Hasan (wk), Afif Hossain Dhrubo

Mushfiqur Rahim wasn’t in the greatest of forms coming into the Super 12s, but he found his rhythm against Lanka. The Bogra-born scored an unbeaten half-century, though it came in a losing cause. Mahmudullah scored a sparkling half-century against PNG and has looked in a good rhythm with the bat.

The skipper also hit two fours against Lanka to stay unbeaten on 10. Nurul Hasan is a powerful striker of the cricket ball, but he is yet to play a knock of substance. If he falters next time, the Tigers may bring Shamim Hossain into the eleven. Afif Hossain Dhrubo has also played his part reasonably.

All-rounders- Shakib Al Hasan, Mohammad Saifuddin, Mahedi Hasan

Shakib Al Hasan has been the standout cricketer for Bangladesh in the tournament without a shred of a doubt. The Magura-born is currently the leading wicket-taker for the Tigers with 11 scalps from four games. He got two wickets against Sri Lanka as well. Mohammad Saifuddin is a handy all-rounder. Mahedi Hasan has bowled well, but he needs to start performing with the bat going forward.

Bowlers- Nasum Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman

Nasum Ahmed came into the eleven in place of Taskin Ahmed and made an impact right away. The left-arm spinner picked two crucial wickets of Kusal Perera and Bhanuka Rajapaksha. He was a tad expensive but is likely to be picked for the next game as well.

Mustafizur Rahman picked up a four-wicket haul against Oman. But he couldn’t make a breakthrough against PNG and remained wicketless against Sri Lanka. If the Tigers have to make a comeback, the Satkhira-born has to get back amongst the wickets.
