The RCB fast bowler, Harshal Patel had displayed his talent in IPL 2015 wherein he picked up 17 wickets in 15 appearances at an economy of 7.48. However, he could not get enough opportunities after this performances. It was IPL 2021 which certainly be termed as a career-defining edition for him. Harshal was traded to RCB in 2021 where he performed exceptionally well winning the purple cap.

Patel returned as the leading-wicket taker with 32 scalps in 15 matches at an economy of 8.14 to equal Dwayne Bravo’s record of picking the most wickets in a single IPL season. His performances helped the team to finish third in the points table and seal a playoff spot. Although RCB could not win the title, he got a national call-up for the first time in his career.

In eight T20I appearances so far, Patel has picked up 11 wickets at an economy of 8.51. In the ongoing edition of IPL, he has picked up 14 wickets in 11 matches and is in good form. With a strong experience and form in the T20s, the 31-year old serves as one of the strongest contenders for a spot in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
