T20 World Cup 2022: 5 Records that can be broken in the tournament
The upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 might see many individual records getting shattered.
4. Tilakaratne Dilshan’s maximum appearances in T20 World Cups can be overhauled
Tilakaratne Dilshan who was a key member of Sri Lanka’s historic triumph in the 2014 edition in Bangladesh is currently the only player to make the most appearances in T20 World Cups having played 35 matches between 2007 and 2016. While he might be holding the record, for now, it will be overhauled in the upcoming edition down under.
The contenders to surpass Dilshan’s feat include the likes of Shoaib Malik (34) who needs only two more matches. Nonetheless, it will only be possible for the Pakistani all-rounder to break this record provided he is selected in the Pakistan squad for the marquee event.
Others in contention are India captain Rohit Sharma, West Indies power-hitter Chris Gayle, and veteran Bangladesh batter Mushfiqur Rahim who have all played 33 games each in this competition.
