Asian Games Men's Cricket 2023 Schedule

The 19th edition of the Asian Games has already commenced with athletes trying to bring laurels to their nations with hard work and passion. The event, which is being held in Hangzhou, China, was originally scheduled to be held in September 2022 but got postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The women's cricket event is in the business end with India and Sri Lanka making it to the gold medal match. On the other hand, the men's cricket event will get underway on September 27, 2023, when Nepal take on Mongolia at the Zhejiang Cricket Field. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan have received direct entries into the quarterfinals by virtue of their ICC team rankings in T20I cricket.

The rest of the teams have been divided into three groups - A, B,  C and D. The top team from each group will make it to the quarterfinals, which begin on Tuesday, October 3. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan will be sending second-string teams to the tournament as their first-team players will be competing in the ODI World Cup, beginning on October 5.

Bangladesh won the gold medal in the inaugural cricket event in the Asian Games back in 2010 after beating Afghanistan in the final. In 2014, Sri Lanka emerged victorious, as Afghanistan had to settle for silver once again. In the 2018 Asian Games, cricket wasn't a part but it is back for the latest edition of the prestigious competition.
