Saurashtra Premier League (SPL) 2023
The third edition of the Saurashtra Premier League (SPL) will commence on Wednesday, August 23. Notably, the tournament was originally scheduled to begin from June 15 but was postponed due to cyclone Biparjoy.
Notably, SPL is a five-franchise league tournament, comprising Halar Heroes, Zalawad Royals, Gohilwad Gladiators, Kutch Warriors, and Sorath Lions. The tournament is played in a round-robin format, as two teams at the end of the league stage will fight for the prestigious trophy in the final on August 31.
In the last edition of the competition, the Gladiators hosted Halar on the night of the finals but because of their poor batting performance, the team lost the match by 40 runs. For Halar, Parth Chauhan was exceptional towards the fag end while Navneet Vora and Dharmendra Jadeja picked up three wickets each.
Meanwhile, veteran stumper-batter Sheldon Jackson will be seen leading Zalawad Royals while Dharmendra Jadeja will be taking command of Kutch Warriors. Arpit Vasavada will be leading the defending champions Halar Heroes, Chirag Jani to lead Sorath Lions while Prerak Mandkad, who was terrific for Lucknow in the recently concluded IPL, will be seen leading Gowliad Gladiators.
