Preview:
Afghanistan will play their first match in the T20I Tri-Series in Bangladesh on Saturday when they face Zimbabwe in Dhaka. They will be led by Rashid Khan for the first time in T20Is who recently became all-format skipper of his country. Afghanistan thumped Bangladesh in the one-off Test under Rashid who had a perfect match with both bat and ball. Afghanistan is currently on a 10-match winning streak in the T20I format.
In fact, the Afghans have won each of their last 19 T20I matches in Asia. It will be quite a task for Zimbabwe to match an in-form Afghan team. Moreover, Zimbabwe has won only one of their last 15 T20I matches. They will take the field after a close loss against the hosts Bangladesh in the tournament opener. The home side chased down the 145-run target from a stage where they lost six wickets for only 60 runs.
Weather Condition/Report:
The first match got delayed due to the rain prior to the match that left the outfield wet. Similar weather is predicted for the 2nd match as well. Showers are expected from 2 PM local time and could cause interruptions for the game.
Pitch Condition/Report:
The moisture helped the pace bowlers with the new ball during the first match. The spinners took the charge in the remaining part. A similar track is expected for the 2nd game with the rains around. Teams might look at 170 as a good score due to the short straight boundaries and quick outfield.
Average first innings score: 170 (Last five unaffected T20I matches)
Record of chasing teams: Won – 3, Lost – 2

Top Picks:
Najibullah Zadran could get a much-awaited opportunity of batting in the top-order while Rashid Khan is expected to run through the Zimbabwe line-up. Craig Ervine has seven half-centuries from only 11 Twenty20 innings in 2019. The first match was a justification to Ryan Burl’s credentials in the shorter format as he scored an unbeaten fifty and took a wicket.
Captain and Vice-Captain Selection:
Captain – Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan, Craig Ervine, Sean Williams, Brendan Taylor
Vice-Captain – Hazratullah Zazai, Ryan Burl, Asghar Afghan, Najibullah Zadran, Hamilton Masakadza
Mohammad Nabi has good numbers with both bat and ball against Zimbabwe in the limited-overs cricket. He could be a safe option as vice-captain in any fantasy team.

Keeper – Brendan Taylor
Batters – Hazratullah Zazai, Asghar Afghan, Hamilton Masakadza, Craig Ervine
All-Rounders – Ryan Burl (VC), Mohammad Nabi (C)
Bowlers – Rashid Khan, Karim Janat, Neville Madziva, Kyle Jarvis

All-Rounders – Mohammad Nabi, Sean Williams
Bowlers – Rashid Khan (C), Karim Janat, Neville Madziva
Expert Advice:
The concept of Hazratullah Zazai in T20s is usually a hit or miss. His success depends upon the conditions and the bowling attacks. Zimbabwe does have left-arm spinners who could bowl into his zone. But he has to survive the powerplay against the pacers who have been successful with the new ball.
Probable Winners:
Afghanistan is expected to continue their winning streak and open their points tally straight away.
