Team India celebrates Manish Pandey's birthday in style
The team celebrated his birthday two weeks later.
After the second One-Day International, the Indian players had a surprise for Manish Pandey who celebrated his birthday (10th September) two weeks later. It can be assumed that since the Indian team wasn’t on any tour assignment during that time, the celebrations was due. Fans posted a video where Manish was celebrating it with the Indian team and other staff members.
It was organized at the team hotel right after the second ODI in Eden Gardens at Kolkata. In the video, Manish was surrounded by his teammates while cutting the cake, before MS Dhoni held him from behind as the others applied cake on his face. Pandey tried to avoid but there was no escaping as his buddies were in a mood of mischief after the astounding victory against the Aussies.
The talented youngster was earlier famously known for being the first Indian player to score a hundred in the Indian Premier League. While he made his international debut in 2015, the Karnataka lad’s growth as an authoritative middle order batsman was recognized last year when he scored a match winning century in Sydney.
While he hasn’t been a permanent feature in the Indian team, his potential is known to all. While he’s a rookie in the ODI format having played just 16 games, he has exhibited his valour to play match-defining knocks and has been a prolific run-getter and leader for the India A team. This is also the reason why the team management has instilled faith in him to bat at No.4.
While so far in the Australian series, Manish Pandey has failed to play the kind of knock he’d been expected to put up; he would be eager to put his best foot forward for the remainder of the series. The next ODI is scheduled to be played at Indore on Sunday.
