There were ups, there were downs, there were victories, there were defeats – and even a tie – but at the end of it all, there was a smile on the face of every member of the Indian Cricket Team. Windies fought hard for most part of the series but fell well short at the home stretch, handing their opponents two easy wins in three days. India were clinical at Thiruvananthapuram in the fifth and final ODI, finishing the entire match inside 47 overs. They needed only 105 to seal the series, and Rohit Sharma along with his skipper Virat Kohli nonchalantly smashed a few boundaries to make short work of the target.

Much to the delight of the thousands of fans who had flocked to the Greenfield International Stadium, they were able to see the one and only MS Dhoni in action in what was his last appearance for Team India at home this year. The fact that the former Indian captain went home with yet another series win would have to be the cherry on the icing. It was time for a bit of celebration for the Men in Blue, and everything was arranged for at the team hotel in the state capital.

Kedar Jadhav has a mask of cake!

Skipper Kohli, who was adjudged Man of the Series for having scored runs for fun over the last couple of weeks, was handed a lovely bouquet of flowers as soon as he arrived, while hotel staff cheered on from the side for their favourite bunch of cricketers. Rohit Sharma, who scored the winning runs for India and also remained unbeaten on 63, then proceeded to cut what looked like a delicious cake.

But right behind him, Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja were plotting something ‘evil’. MSD, who had a set of tricoloured balloons, instructed his partner in crime to burst one of those right beside Rohit’s ear. The Mumbaikar was obviously jolted and the entire Indian team burst into laughter.

Meanwhile, before Kedar Jadhav could have a bite from the piece of cake Rohit had cut for him, he had it smeared all over his face as Kohli, Umesh, Dhoni and Chahal watched with utter amusement. Unfortunately for Jadhav, he momentarily became a clown as more joined in to laugh at the middle order batsman, who was busy wiping cake off his face. This was a well-deserved celebration for the Men in Blue, who now fly to Kolkata for the first of three T20Is against the boys from the Caribbean.
