Team India manager Sunil Subramaniam likely to be recalled from the West Indies
The COA and the office bearers aren't happy with his actions.
Sunil Subramaniam, the Indian cricket team’s manager, has recently found himself tangled in controversy. The same is because he has reportedly misbehaved with the officials of the country’s High Commissioners in the Caribbean Islands. He is currently in the West Indies for the international tour, which ends on September 3 with the conclusion of the second Test at Kingston, Jamaica.
According to a source in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Subramaniam was asked to co-ordinate with the officials of the Indian High Commissions in Guyana and Trinidad & Tobago for the Indian team’s shoot on ‘Water Conservation’, a project by the Indian government. The shoot had taken place on Monday in Port of Spain, featuring captain Virat Kohli and his deputy Rohit Sharma.
CoA unhappy with Sunil Subramaniam’s actions
After Subramaniam’s misbehavior, it was learned, he was set to be reprimanded severely by the world’s richest cricket board. Now another development surrounding the matter has come to the fore. It’s been known that the team manager may be recalled from the West Indies as per reports in The Times of India (TOI). He has ruffled a number of feathers and now finds himself in some trouble.
Sources in the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) have mentioned that he hasn’t performed his duties diligently. He has given opportunities of complaints in a number of tours, including the ones in Australia and England. The office bearers aren’t happy with him by any stretch of the imagination and now the CoA has been upset with him as well, adding to his misery.
Subramaniam is currently on a 45-day extension period along with head coach Ravi Shastri, bowling coach Bharat Arun and others. Their contracts are set to come to an end after the ongoing tour of the West Indies. After all the commotion, it’s highly unlikely that Subramaniam will keep his position.
The BCCI earlier sent out applications for various positions in the coaching role and over 2,000 of them put their hat in the ring. For the head coach’s role, six candidates have been shortlisted and they will be interviewed at the BCCI headquarters by the Kapil Dev-led Cricket Advisory Committee.
