Team India undergoes new training drill 'Turbo Touch'; BCCI shares video
Men in Blue have started a new regimen of fitness drills, which was shared by BCCI on their Twitter account.
The Indian cricket team is doing anything they can before the important second Test match against New Zealand in Christchurch. The visitors are trailing 1-0 after losing the first match in Wellington by 10 wickets and getting slammed on social media for such poor performance, where they were bowled out for 165 and 191 runs.
One of the aspects the Indian team has been lacking in is surprisingly their fielding. Their efforts in the limited-overs series which was played before the Tests, was poor, to say the least. Dropped catches, misfielding and overall poor effort in the field added to the misery of Indian captain Virat Kohli, who lost the ODI series 0-3 despite winning the T20Is 5-0. It seems, the Men in Blue have started a new regimen of fitness drills, which was shared by BCCI on their Twitter account.
Turbo Touch developed by conditioning coach Nick Webb
Team India’s strength and conditioning coach Nick Webb has crafted a new fitness drill, dubbed as ‘Turbo Touch’, ahead of the second Test match at Hagley Oval and BCCI shared a video of team members indulging in a fast pace game. Webb pointed out that the drill was designed to get the players agile on the field and was good for warm-up training.
“A general warm-up to start with, to get the boys moving. We always try to finish up with a game. It’s pretty intensive. It’s called ‘turbo touch’. It’s an evasive guy in which you divide the players into two teams, and they try and score in between the two goals. The idea is that they have only two touches to score and they have to try and evade and try to change up the rules of the way they can catch and the way they play the game as we go,” Webb explained how turbo touch worked in the video.
He also said that he is making contentious calls to get the guys fired up, enabling them to play harder and this helps a lot in match situations. This new drill brings in more pace in the practice and is more fun to do.

The second Test between India and New Zealand begins on February 29 at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch.
