1. Ricky Ponting – (Australia) 165:
Ricky Ponting, the skipper of the ‘golden era of Australian cricket’ tops this list with a mind-boggling 165 wins and an astonishing win percentage of 76.14. The invincible Australian side led by Ponting featured some of the legendry players the game has ever seen- Gilchrist, Hayden, Damien Martyn, Brett Lee, Mike Hussey, McGrath etc.
Ponting also established himself as one of the best batsman of the modern era scoring an excess of 13,000 runs in both tests and ODI. Under his captainship Australia won the 2003 and 2007 WC and also the ICC Champions Trophy 2006. Undoubtedly Ponting is the best captain the game has ever seen as Steve Waugh correctly said “Ricky Ponting was destined to lead his country – I couldn’t have handed Australian cricket’s ultimate individual honour to a more capable and deserving man. A leader must earn respect and lead from the front, and on both of these counts Punter has undoubtedly excelled.”
