With every passing day, the excitement for the upcoming 2021 T20 WC (WC) is increasing. Fans across the globe are badly waiting for this marquee event to commence. The preparations seem to be going really well for all the teams. However, every team must remember that this is an ICC event and not any ordinary tournament. Players need to give their best in order to win it. Thus, the correct mix of youth and experience is necessary for an event as big as this one. It is a whole new experience of playing maiden ICC trophy for youngsters and there’s definitely going to be a lot of pressure. Each and every team has at least one key player who will be playing their first T20 WC this time around. So which are those talented cricketers who will be playing their maiden T20 WC? Today we shall be taking a look at- Team-wise one key player playing his first T20 WC 1) India: KL Rahul KL Rahul. He was initially considered to be a Test specialist but over the years, he has been a superb player in all formats of the game. As a matter of fact, he established himself as a T20 batsman just after the 2016 T20 WC and has started playing for India in the shortest format of the game since then. He has never looked back since then as he has transformed himself into a T20 batting giant. He would be playing his maiden T20 WC as one of the best of this format. The numbers speak for itself The opener has scored 1557 runs in 48 T20Is so far. His batting average and strike rate in this format are 39.92 and 142.19, respectively. Not many players can muscle the ball like him. Marcus Stoinis is probably Australia’s main finisher going into the T20 WC. There are a lot of expectations from the all-rounder owing to his exploits in the IPL as well as the BBL. Not to forget his handy bowling. He has scored 376 runs in 23 innings in T20Is so far. His batting average and strike rate in this format are 25.07 and 133.81, respectively. The Delhi Capitals all-rounder has also picked 10 T20I wickets. His T20I bowling average and strike rate are 35.9 and 25.4 respectively 3) England: Mark Wood Mark Wood of England. It wouldn’t be an overstatement to say that he would be entering the tournament as one of the most feared bowlers. Arguably one of the fastest bowlers of this era, Wood is a threat to each and every opposition team. Besides, with the absence of Jofra Archer, there would be a lot of expectations from him. The speedster has always been a firm believer of getting wickets. This mentality is very crucial in big tournaments. The English quick has picked 26 T20I wickets in 17 games so far. His T20I bowling average and strike rate are 20.96 and 8.58 respectively. One mustn’t forget that he is one of those bowlers who can bowl at the start as well as the death. 4) New Zealand: Lockie Ferguson Lockie Ferguson. The pacer’s ability to generate pace has given batters all across the globe sleepless nights. The Kiwi is very crucial with respect to New Zealand’s T20 WC plans. This is mainly due to the fact that he’s their best bet to bowl the death overs. Besides, he has been in good form of late. The Kiwi pacer has picked 24 wickets in 13 T20Is so far. His T20I bowling average and strike rate are 13.17 and 11.5, respectively. The astonishing part is his miserly economy rate which is just 6.87. 5) South Africa: Tabraiz Shamsi Tabraiz Shamsi. Shamsi has turned to be an absolute boon for the Proteas. The spinner has emerged as one of the best T20I bowlers of late. As a matter of fact, he is currently the number one ranked T20I bowler in the world. He holds the key to South Africa’s chances in the T20 WC. Besides, the conditions in UAE would suit his bowling. The chinaman has picked 49 T20I wickets in 42 games so far. His bowling average and strike rate in this format are 21.61 and 19.1 respectively. At such a young age, he has already become a stalwart with respect to Pakistan cricket. So much so that he will also be leading Pakistan in the upcoming T20 WC. The batting maestro might be playing his first T20 WC but he is no stranger to this format. As a matter of fact, he is currently one of the best T20I batters of this generation. The only way Pakistan can win this T20 WC is if he performs well. The Pakistani skipper has scored 2204 runs in just the 61 T20I games. His batting average and strike rate are 46.89 and 130.65 respectively. This includes 20 fifties and a hundred. 7) West Indies: Fabian Allen Fabian Allen. (Photo Source: Getty Images) Fabian Allen is one of the recent T20 stars from the West Indies. It is safe to say that he is tailor-made for this format. He can hit the big shots with the bat as well as bowl economic spells with the ball. Add to that his sensational fielding skills. Thus, this makes him a complete package. The all-rounder has scored 250 T20I runs in 21 innings so far. His batting average and strike rate in this format are 17.86 and 138.89 respectively. He has also picked 20 wickets in 24 innings in this format. His bowling average and strike rate are 27.05 and 22.5 respectively. 8) Sri Lanka: Wanindu Hasaranga Wanindu Hasaranga bowling. (Photo Source: Getty Images) Sri Lanka might not have qualified for the Super 12s of the T20 WC just yet but Hasaranga is surely qualified to be called one of the best all-rounders of this format currently. He has been a diamond in the rough. So much so that he is currently their MVP. A lot will be depending on the all-rounder this time around if the Lankans are to do well in this T20 WC. He has picked 36 wickets in 24 T20Is so far. His bowling average and strike rate in this format are 15.47 and 14.11 respectively. His economy rate is on the lower side as well (6.58). The all-rounder has also scored 200 T20I runs with the bat. His T20I batting average and strike rate are 12.5 and 107.53, respectively. Taking the conditions in UAE into consideration, he would fancy himself to justify the hype around him.
