Teams with most 350 plus scores in ODIs: ODI cricket in recent time has grown as the most followed format of the game until of course the T20s emerged to take over. Even though there has been lost of cricket played now the level of competition and application ODI i.e. One Day International cricket, demands is supreme. It delivers the excitement of limited overs and the strategic importance of test cricket in a single day. It fittingly challenges the abilities of batsmen, bowlers as well as the fielders. It has changed the nature of all the aspects of cricket. Before ODI’s started, batsmen would score runs at snail’s pace which was often very boring for the viewers. The limited overs format brought the aggression of scoring runs into cricket, and the end result of which was bashing of the bowlers and huge totals being scored and chased. For a team with so much batting power and Chris Gayle at the top, it is surprising that they have not made a score of 400 or more in ODIs. The highest score West Indies has made is 372/2 against Zimbabwe in the on-going 2015 World Cup, with the help of 215 from Chris Gayle. Currently, they are trying to regain the lost glory of 1980s and seems like that will take a long time for them to do. Until then, the fans should enjoy the Caribbean fun at its finest. 7 – Sri Lanka – 7 Times Sri Lanka. The Lankans have always had the right mix of youth and experience in their team. For almost two decades now they have had the services of explosive yet composed batsmen like Dilshan, Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene, Angelo Mathews and others. Apart from established batsmen the team also has the pinch hitters lower in their line-up. Sri Lanka also has the ones who explode at the end to boost the run rate and take the team total 20 or 30 runs ahead of what it looked like to be. 6 – Pakistan – 6 Times Pakistan have managed to hit as many runs six times 350+ score in 50 overs format. They have managed to hit as many runs six times in 50 overs format. The Asian giants are fierce competitors and their team consists of batsmen like Ahmed Shehzad, Misbah-ul-Haq, Mohammad Hafeez, Younis Khan, Shahid Afridi, among others who are very well known for scoring big for Pak in ODIs. The team more often than not restricts its opponents to smaller totals all thanks to their bowlers but when they are challenged with big runs on the board they still have enough batting fire power to score the number of runs. 5 – England – 9 Times England. They are not as good an ODI as much as they are in the longer format. English batsmen are capable of scoring brisk runs but they are outnumbered by the conventional ones. And that is one of the prime reasons for them being a below par ODI squad and having only 9, 350+ scores in ODI cricket. Their most recent score and the 9th one came against India in India. 4 – New Zealand – 12 Times New Zealand have scored 350+ scores 12 times in ODI cricket. They have scored 350 plus scores 12 times in ODI cricket. The New Zealand team has always been considered as the dark horses in this format and is very unpredictable in nature. Over the last few years they have had batsmen who can blast apart the bowlers, the likes of Brendon McCullum, Martin Guptil, Corey Anderson, Kane Williamson can single handedly take the team total beyond oppositions reach and when these guys perform in packs NZ more often than not end up huge totals. 3 – Australia – 16 Times Australia have scored 350+ scores 14 times in ODI cricket. They are known for their never-say-die attitude and aggressive style of play. Australia stands on third position in this list as they have achieved this feat 16 times in ODIs. The team has always had most destructive of the openers followed by middle order which can hit boundaries and sixes at will. The team has always been known to destroy the opposition bowling so much so that the bowler’s morale goes into the crust of the ground. The dominance with the bat helps them post huge totals in all the formats of the game. 2 – South Africa – 22 Times South Africa. This team has the perfect combination of top class batsmen, fiery fast bowlers and athletic fielders. They are a very dominant team and highly competitive in nature. The team has scored 350 plus runs 22 times so far in ODI cricket. South Africa holds a very distinctive record of chasing the highest total in ODI’s. South Africa chased the massive total of 438.They achieved this incredible feat against Australia in the year 2006 at Johannesburg which till today remains the world record. 1 – India – 23 Times India’s cricketers gather. They perform well in both home and foreign conditions in ODIs. The team boasts of players who are specialist in the format. The Indian cricket team has scored the most number of 350 plus scores in ODI’s. They have done it 23 times so far and are far ahead of other teams in terms of that. India scored 418-5 against West Indies on 8th December 2011, in the same match where Virender Sehwag scored a world record 219 which till recent was the highest individual ODI score.
