Telangana Minister KTR wants the BCCI to host IPL 2021 in Hyderabad as well
KTR also assured that the Government would provide its full support for the conduct of the IPL in Hyderabad.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has stated that the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will entirely take place in India. This would come as a relief for millions of cricket fans in the country, as the entire 13th edition of the IPL took place in the United Arab Emirates(UAE) without the fans cheering on from the stands.
And, the BCCI confirmed that the 14th edition of the IPL will be held across 5 venues. The 5 venues that have been confirmed as of now are Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Bangalore and Delhi. In fact, a report also stated that Mumbai has not been confirmed as an IPL venue as the Uddav Thackeray government had not yet given the nod for the tournament to be conducted in Mumbai.
“Mumbai is still not final and it is because the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government, headed by Uddhav Thackeray, has not yet given the final go-ahead,” stated a report as quoted by Cricbuzz.
KTR makes an open appeal to the BCCI
Now, the Working President of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has made an open appeal to the BCCI to include Hyderabad as one of the IPL venues for the 14th edition. Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao(KTR) stated that the Covid 19 measures taken by the Government were effective and it reflected in the low number of cases in the city as well. He also assured that the Government would provide its full support for the conduct of the IPL in Hyderabad. This is KTR’s tweet.
The 13th edition of the IPL was one that had many nail-biting contests and was an absolute roller coaster ride. Mumbai Indians(MI) confirmed their status as the most dominant IPL side by winning the IPL title for the 5th time. Meanwhile, the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) side failed to make it to the playoffs for the first time.
Shreyas Iyer impressed as a leader last season, as the Delhi Capitals(DC) reached the summit clash under his leadership. With the 2021 IPL auctions completed, all the teams have strengthened their respective squads and a cracker of a tournament awaits the fans in the summer months of April and May.
