One of the biggest talking points in England cricket has been the return of Ben Stokes for The Ashes series against Australia. Stokes will be making a return to competitive cricket after taking a break to take care of his mental health.

However, the all-rounder suffered an injury to his arm while training on 28th November 2021, and was attended to, by the doctor and physio. And, Ashley Giles, the Director of Cricket revealed that Stokes has been doing well and is having a good time.

Adding that England skipper Joe Root will be happy to have Stokes in the England team, Giles admitted that Stokes has not played a lot of cricket off late and England will have to deal with the 30-year-old in a steady manner.

“Ben seems to be going well and it’s just great having him around. I know Joe Root will be happy having him back in the squad. We’ve still got to be steady with him, he hasn’t played a lot of cricket lately and, going back to that prep period, it’s not ideal for anyone, but particularly the guys who haven’t had a lot of cricket under their belt. So we’ll just keep building him up,” said Ashley Giles as quoted by The Telegraph.

We’ve got to treat Ben Stokes carefully: Ashley Giles

Ashley Giles also reckoned that England should treat Ben Stokes in a careful manner as he has not played a lot of cricket. Giles also added that Stokes will be raring to go once he is fully fit.

“I’m hopeful. We’ve just got to treat Ben carefully as we would with anyone else who has been in that position of not having a lot of cricket under their belts. He will be a difficult man to hold back if he is ready to go,” concluded Ashley Giles.

The 1st Ashes Test between Australia and England will begin on 8th December 2021 at The Gabba.
