Rohit Sharma had made it to the Indian squad because of the impressive Ranji Trophy record. And as he played some vital knocks during the World T20 in 2007, he was later on picked for the Indian squad. In the CB series too, he played some valuable innings. It looked like the stage was set for Rohit to shine. 

But because of his inconsistency, he was unable to get into the 2011 Cricket World Cup squad. The squad then managed to lift the trophy for the nation after 28 long years. Talk about luck, Rohit was the unluckiest cricketer then. But, it was just a matter of time that he grabbed the attention of the selectors. Since then, he has been a tremendous cricketer for the nation.

Rohit’s career changed when the management asked him to open during the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. Till now, Rohit has played 227 ODIs and has scored 9205 runs. A stellar average of 48.96 showcases his abilities to play the white ball. In IPL, he is the most successful captain with five trophies. But, he has been unable to lift the most prestigious trophy in world cricket. Maybe, 2023 will be the year.
