‘The future looks bright’ – Jasprit Bumrah impressed with Mumbai-kid trying to imitate his bowling action
In the last four and half years, Bumrah has become his captain's go-to-bowler in crunch situations, irrespective of the format he is playing.
Jasprit Bumrah, on arrival among the big boys of cricket, was deemed a tad weird owing to his bowling action. Making his debut for the Mumbai Indians (MI), he had a chance to bowl to his current national skipper Virat Kohli. However, after being spanked for a few boundaries, the bowler went on to get rid of the RCB captain, who is the all-time leading scorer in the IPL.
In 2016, he forayed into international cricket during the Australia tour. Ever since then, Bumrah hasn’t looked back by any means. For the next two years, he kept honing his skills in ODI and T20I cricket. He bowled with venom and his slower balls and yorkers turned out to be a massive headache for the oppositions. At times, the pacer was unplayable as well.
Bumrah oozing class
He doesn’t have the smoothest of actions, but it has been mightily effective for the now 26-year-old. In 2018, during the South Africa tour, Bumrah made his Test debut and weaved magic even in the purest format of the sport. It isn’t much of a surprise that his bowling action has become popular. A number of people have tried to copy him, showing how much successful he is.
In the meantime, a kid from Mumbai was seen, trying to imitate Bumrah’s action on the footpath. The video didn’t evade Bumrah’s eyes by any means. He took note of it and said that the kid has a bright future in the offing. The speedster re-tweeted the clip and wrote, “The future looks bright, little one! Keep at it (flexing muscles emoji)”

Last year, Bumrah became the third Indian bowler after Harbhajan Singh and Irfan Pathan to pick up a Test hat-trick. He accomplished the frat during the Jamaica Test against the West Indies. It was also the game where Kohli surpassed MS Dhoni’s tally to become India’s most successful Test skipper.
In the last 12 months, Bumrah has had to pain through back injuries. Earlier this year, he made his comeback for India in the T20Is versus Sri Lanka. But later due to his poor form, he lost his number one ODI ranking to New Zealand’s Trent Boult.
