England’s batter Liam Livingstone took a page out of Rishabh Pant’s batting style during a group stage encounter of The Hundred competition as he smoked a one-handed maximum in the match between Birmingham Phoenix and Trent Rockets played on August 15 (Monday).
Livingstone also completed an important fifty for his team as the Phoenix won the encounter by seven wickets with 14 deliveries to spare. Skipper Moeen Ali also completed an excellent fifty for the winning team where he was also adjudged the Player of the Match for his excellent performance.
Liam Livingstone finished the match with a six
Talking about the shot, it was Rocket’s skipper Lewis Gregory who was at the receiving end. The medium-pacer bowled a full-toss delivery to Livingstone who after shuffling a bit smoked the ball with one hand towards the mid-wicket as the ball went soaring in the crowd with Livingstone also completing his fifty and winning the game for his team in some style.

Talking more about the match, Phoenix after winning the toss decided to have a bowl first. The batting team had a very poor start with the bat as they were reduced to just 53/6 in 54 deliveries. Alex Hales, Dawid Malan, Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Colin Munro, Ian Cockbain, and Samit Patel failed to get going with the bat.
However, skipper Gregory (35* off 22 balls) and star all-rounder Daniel Sams (55* off 25 balls) ensured that the Rockets crossed the 140-run mark in their allotted 100 balls. Benny Howell (three wickets), Moeen (one wicket), Imran Tahir (one wicket), and Tom Helm (one wicket) were the successful bowlers for the Phoenix.
In reply, the Rockets tasted some early success with the ball, but an excellent partnership between Livingstone and Moeen ensured that the batting side chased down the total easily in the end. Pacer Luke Wood was the only wicket-taker for the bowling team as he scalped a total of three wickets.
