Trent Rockets completed an easy victory over Northern Superchargers in a group stage match of The Hundred played at the Headingly Leeds on August 9 (Tuesday). Batter Dawid Malan was simply excellent with the bat as he smashed an unbeaten 88 runs and took his team over the victory line.

Talking about the match, Trent Rockets won the toss and elected to have a bowl first. The Superchargers had the worst possible start as they lost both their openers Adam Lyth and Faf du Plessis within the field restrictions. Both of them could not even open their account.

Trent Rockets continued to apply pressure on the Superchargers bowlers as they took wickets at regular intervals. Batters Michael-Kyle Pepper, Dwayne Bravo, John Simpson, and Adam Hose got starts with the bat but none of them managed to make a big score with the bat.

At one stage, it looked like the Superchargers will not be able to cross the 130-run mark. However, an excellent display of batting from David Wiese and Roelof van der Merwe ensured that Superchargers finish strongly with the bat. The pair added 83 runs in 44 balls as their team scored 152 runs in their allotted 100 balls.

Chasing 153 to win, the Rockets batters Alex Hales and Dawid Malan came out swinging as they completely thrashed the opponent’s bowling unit. While Hales scored 43 off 27 balls, Malan was excellent for his 88* runs. Kiwi batter Colin Munro also played a knock of 15 runs as Trent Rockets completed an easy chase and won the match by seven wickets with six balls remaining. Malan was adjudged player of the match for his excellent batting performance.

For Superchargers, Bravo, Ben Raine, and Adil Rashid scalped one wicket each, but they all were very expensive with the ball. With a victory over the Superchargers, Trent Rockers have now won two matches in a row and find themselves placed second on the points table. Meanwhile, Superchargers are placed fifth on the points table.
