The pressure is now on South Africa as this Indian side will not lose easily at home: Inzamam-ul-Haq
India made a great comeback with a dominating win in the third T20I against South Africa.
India beat South Africa by 48 runs in the third T20I match to remain alive in the ongoing series at home. South Africa surprised many by winning the opening two matches but India made a great comeback with a dominating win and is now favourites to win the remaining two matches as well. Former Pakistani skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq also believes that the Indian side will not lose easily at home, and the pressure is now upon the traveling side.
Indian side made no changes to their squad and was forced to bat at Visakhapatnam. But both the openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan scored explosive fifties to give India a terrific start. India struggled in the middle overs due to a lack of partnerships but all-rounder Hardik Pandya scored 31 runs off just 21 balls to put 180 on target for the visitors. The Proteas struggled from the start with both openers getting out in the powerplay overs. Indian bowlers took wickets consistently in middle overs and bowled out the South African side on just 131 runs in 19.1 overs.
Inzamam-ul-Haq praises Indian bowlers for denying South Africa a series win
Indian bowlers received a lot of criticism for their uneven performance in the first two matches but all the bowlers, apart from Avesh Khan, managed to contribute with wickets and a good economy rate in the last match. Indian spin duo Yuzvendra Chahal and Axar Patel impressed the most for taking big wickets in the middle overs. Inzamam has credited Indian spinners for their bowling for denying the visitors a series win, who seemed the favourite to win the third match and seal the series.
“Credit to Patel and Chahal for the way they bowled. The contest has now turned interesting. Earlier, it seemed that the Proteas will go and capture the series but India bowlers denied that,” Inzamam said in his latest Youtube video.
Pakistani legend also praised the depth in the current Indian squad, who are missing the key players Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Jasprit Bumrah in this series.
“The pressure is now upon South Africa as this Indian side will not lose so easily at home. The young faces of the team should be appreciated because they are fighting back. There were no Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul in the side but still, they managed to pull out a terrific win,” he added.
