The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has stated that they would be conducting a re-examination of the umpiring exam in Bengaluru. The announcement comes as the final call for all the aspiring umpires in and around the domestic structure. The date has been set as August the fifth. This examination comes as welcome news for those who did not clear the exam anytime between 2011 and 2015.

“BCCI has decided to provide one final opportunity to all such candidates (irrespective of age and previous attempts), who were unsuccessful in the Umpires Level – 2 Theory, as well as Practical examinations, conducted between 2011 and 2015,” BCCI acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary stated in a letter addressed to all its affiliates.

A course to be done prior to the exam

Choudhary went on to add that a preparatory course will be conducted prior to the beginning of the theory exam for a period of four days with the course affilated and accredited to the laws of cricket as well as the Playing Conditions. In short, the course will be covering the syllabus for the upcoming examination.

“A preparatory course will be conducted from 1st to 4th August 2018 and the theory examinations will be conducted on 5th August at KSCA/ NCA Bangalore. The syllabus will be Laws of Cricket (2017 Code) and BCCI Playing Conditions (2017-18), and the question paper will be from the above syllabus.”

However, the catch here is that only those candidates who clear the theory test will be eligible for the Level 2 Practical examination, something that will be conducted during the last week of August. In short, these would be the candidates who clear the Level 1 theory test.
