'The world knows what I have done for my country' - Lasith Malinga responds on criticism of backing out from LPL
Lasith Malinga believes that it is time for new faces to make their way through the Lanka team.
T20 skipper of Sri Lanka and spearhead of pace attack Lasith Malinga has cleared his stand on backing out from Lanka Premier League. Malinga became a center of criticism from fans on why he backed out from LPL and not IPL. To which the speedster emphasizes that now he would like to make way for new faces in the Sri Lankaif team. And it will come through their T20 league (LPL) in the future.
Many disapproved of Malinga’s participation in the Indian Premier League over the years. If the star pacer can ply his trade in India’s T20 league, then why not in his own country, stated fans. LPL is set to kick off on November 26 in Hambantota. However, he has responded to all the criticism and cleared that his time is about to end in competitive cricket, and now, he would be pleased to help new members make their way through the national team.
“I wish the LPL all the success. Some will wonder why the lack of preparation is a problem for someone who has played so much cricket. You can’t do this by just preparing in your gym at home. Before I bowl a yorker in a match, I practice bowling that delivery about a thousand times. It is not something that happens by accident,” stated Malinga as quoted by News Wire.

“No matter what you achieve, sometimes you have to take the criticism too. The world knows what I have done for my country. The people who love me know it too. That is enough for me,” Malinga concluded.
Malinga even pulled out of IPL 2020 owing to family commitments where his franchise Mumbai Indians lifted the trophy for the record fifth time in the league’s history.
