Thieves barge into Ricky Ponting’s house in Melbourne, steal car
The police are still looking out for the suspects.
Former Australian cricketer Ricky Ponting has found himself in a bit of strife after being targeted by thieves. On Friday night, the wrongdoers barged into the veteran’s home and managed to steal his car, which was parked in the driveway.
Thereafter, the police took charge on an immediate basis and investigations were carried out to recover the car. After the police took action, the car was recovered from the Camberwell area in Melbourne. The car was being driven erratically through the city.
Two men were seen trying to get away from the police. As per reports in 7 news, the police are still looking out for the suspects.
In the meantime, on Monday, February 8, Cricket Australia released the trailer of the documentary ‘The Record’. It’s about the journey of the Aussie women’s team in the 2020 T20 World Cup where they beat India in the final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
“The documentation of Australia’s ICC Women’s T20 World Cup campaign has given us the opportunity to reflect on what was a monumental occasion for cricket,” Nick Hockley, the CA interim CEO, told.
“I would like to thank everyone who played their part in bringing both the event and this documentary to life. Reliving this special moment in time will hopefully inspire the next generation of cricketers, both girls and boys, to aspire to play on the biggest stage of all,” he added.
Ricky Ponting opines on Australia’s Test defeat against India
Earlier, Ponting was highly disappointed after the Aussies lost the four-match Test series to India 1-2. He stated that despite India, suffering from a number of injury concerns, the hosts couldn’t win the fourth Test at The Gabba in Brisbane. Australia lost the series after taking a 1-0 lead with the win in Adelaide.
“I’m quite shocked that Australia weren’t quite good enough to win this series. The cold hard facts of it are pretty much that was the India A team that played this Test match and still won,” Ponting had said.
“It’s probably not even (India’s) second-picked team because you think of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ishant Sharma and those guys who didn’t even make it out here. Rohit Sharma turns up for the last two Test matches only,” he added.
