'Things come to an end' - Michael Vaughan opines on reported rift between CSK and Ravindra Jadeja
Reports have emerged that things aren’t well between Jadeja and the franchise.
Ravindra Jadeja’s IPL 2022 campaign came to a premature end as the veteran all-rounder got injured midway through the competition. Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday (May 11) confirmed that Jadeja’s rib injury won’t allow him to take any further part this season. Amid his ouster this season, reports have emerged that things aren’t well between Jadeja and the franchise. It has also been learned that CSK have unfollowed Jadeja on Instagram.
It must be noted that Jadeja, on the eve of the competition, was named CSK captain. However, he stepped down from the role after a string of poor results and handed back the reins to MS Dhoni. While Jadeja featured in some matches after relinquishing captaincy, he wasn’t really at his best. As his injury and reports of rift are clashing, many believe the all-rounder’s tenure with CSK is over.
There has to be a question mark over Ravindra Jadeja’s position in CSK: Michael Vaughan
Former England captain Michael Vaughan is of a similar opinion. He also stressed on the fact that the bio-bubble fatigues tends to get the better of players.
“I don’t know what his injury is. I don’t know how much he has been affected by the captaincy. I’m not too sure how much he’s been affected by bubble life. You got to remember that these players have been in a bubble and for some players, it’s just driving them mad. They just can’t cope with the bubble, being restricted,” Vaughan told Cricbuzz.
“There has to be a question mark over Jadeja’s position in Chennai going forward. If he has had a bit of a fall out because of the captaincy, whether he is injured, we’ll have to wait and see what that is. But there has to be a question mark whether it might be coming to… kind of the end… Jadeja at Chennai. Things come to an end. Sometimes, a change might be good for both the player and franchise,” he added.
Meanwhile, CSK, who have endured a hard time in the competition, on Thursday (May 12) got officially knocked out of the playoff race.
