Bhuvneshwar Kumar has a rather interesting request for Rashid Khan
India and Afghanistan will face each other in the latter's first ever Test match.
Defending a target in a T20 match is a very difficult task. It becomes even more difficult when you are playing on the Indian tracks with smaller boundaries. However, Sunrisers Hyderabad bowlers have mastered the art like none other as they continue to do the same match after match. The SRH bowlers yet again made sure that the 146 runs their batsmen put on were enough for them to defend and knock Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore out of the tournament.
After cracking performance from Shakib Al Hasan and Rashid Khan, SRH needed to defend 19 runs in the last two overs. It was Siddarth Kaul who bowled the penultimate over of the inning and conceded just 8 runs. The pinpoint yorkers were too difficult for Mandeep Singh and Colin de Grandhomme. Bhuvneshwar Kumar defending 11 in the final over gave away just 6 runs.
Rashid has been a very tough bowler and the batters are finding it tough to find a way to tackle the trademark Khan Googlies. He trumped RCB’s star batsman AB de Villiers through a similar wrong’un which the batsman failed to read and was left shocked seeing his stumps shattered.
Don’t bowl like this during the Test match: Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Notably, after the IPL, the Afghan bowler will join the national side who will play their first-ever Test match against the Indians. After the match, Bhuvneshwar Kumar interviewed the 19-year old spinner for the official IPL website. Kumar jokingly asked the bowler to not bowl the way he has been bowling in the IPL.
“Do whatever you do, but don’t do the same during the India-Afghanistan Test,” said the Indian pacer making a request to the leg-spinner. The leggie asserted with a smile and replied “Inshallah.”
Got a lot of confidence after de Villiers wicket
Rashid talked about the wicket of AB de Villiers and said that he planned things out to remove the game changer. “Everyone knows he (De Villiers) is a game-changer. The plan was to bowl to him in the good length area and mix it up between leg-spin, straight one and the wrong one. I set him up with two-three legspinners and then the wrong one. That was the plan. It was a big wicket. I got a lot of confidence from that wicket,” Rashid told Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
It will be interesting to see the battle between Rashid and Indian batters when the two sides meet for the historic Test match in June.
