This time fans will get to see the original Virat Kohli back in form: Childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma

Virat Kohli’s childhood coach, Rajkumar Sharma, reckoned that the Indian Test skipper will strike form in the upcoming red-ball series against South Africa. The 33-year-old Kohli hasn’t smashed a century for over two years, although he has gotten plenty of half-centuries. Recently, he relinquished T20I captaincy after which he was removed as the ODI skipper as well.

The upcoming Test series is scheduled to start on Sunday, December 26 at the SuperSport Park in Centurion. Last time when India played a Test at the venue, India lost by 135 runs, but the Delhi-born Kohli smashed 153 runs in the first innings with the help of 15 fours.

Sharma believed that Kohli can replicate his performance from the previous encounter and also sounded confident for his student to stage a comeback with the bat in hand.

“Last time Virat played an amazing innings in the Centurion and I hope he will play that once again. All his fans are eagerly waiting to see him perform just like before. He is a mature person. He has been captaining for a long time now and he is passionate about team India’s performance. This time the fans will get to see the original Virat back in form,” Sharma was quoted as saying in NDTV.

Sharma also felt the Team India may find it hard to choose among Ajinkya Rahane, Cheteshwar Pujara and Shreyas Iyer for the Centurion Test.

“It will be a tough call for team India that should be included in the Playing XI among Rahane, Pujara and Iyer. Iyer secured his place in the team after he scored his century, as this will bring a lot of pressure on the senior players. But it will be interesting to see that with what combination will Team India go,” he stated.

Iyer made a thunderous start to Test cricket after making his debut against New Zealand at Green Park in Kanpur. He got the Player of the Match award in his maiden Test itself. Rahane, on the other hand, has been jostling for form over the last 12 months. Pujara has also blown hot and cold, but has kept chipping in with useful scores now and then.
