'This too shall pass, Stay strong' - Babar Azam comes out in support of Virat Kohli

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has come out in support of former Indian skipper Virat Kohli and has put out a tweet for the prominent Indian batter. To note, Kohli was rested for the upcoming West Indies tour as he had reportedly asked for a break and this has led many to speculate that he has been dropped from the side.

The former Indian skipper has been struggling for runs for a long period and could not make a big score despite getting set against the England cricket team during the second ODI match played at Lords, London on July 14 (Thursday). He could only score 16 runs off 25 deliveries with three eye-pleasing drives but nicked one behind to the keeper off David Willey. The Men in Blue lost the contest by 100 runs after getting bundled out for 146 runs chasing 247.

Coming back to Babar Azam supporting Virat Kohli, the Pakistan captain posted a photo of himself with the former Indian skipper (from 2021 T20 World Cup) having his hand over Babar’s shoulder as both players were seen wearing a smile on their faces. Babar wrote, “This too shall pass. Stay strong.”

Both Babar and Kohli are two of the best batters for their respective countries. Cricket fans and experts from around the world always draw out a comparison between them, but both Babar and Kohli seem to have the utmost respect for each other. At present, Babar Azam is preparing to take on Sri Lanka in a Test series, while Kohli will be seen in action again during the third and final ODI match between the Men in Blue and Three Lions to be played at the Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester on July 17 (Sunday).

Talking about the second ODI between England and India, the visitors won the toss and opted to have a field first. English openers Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow gave a decent start to the Three Lions, but they kept losing wickets during the middle-phase overs. Batters Moeen Ali and David Willey ensured that England cross the 240-run mark in their allotted 50 overs. In reply, Team India was bundled out for just 146 runs with English pacer Reece Topley grabbing six wickets and being adjudged as player of the match.
