Tickets for World T20 2016 to go online today

The ICC World T20 2016 is just around the corner and the tickets for the mega event in India is all set to be out for sale from 12:00 noon on February 24.

A ICC Media release quoted the ICC Chairman and BCCI President Shashank Manohar saying, “ICC World Twenty20 2016 is a highly anticipated event in the international cricket calendar. It’s therefore imperative we maintain an equal opportunity programme for anyone who is interested in watching these matches at the stadium. BCCI will ensure to enable a smooth execution of this procedure and ensure every fan gets a fair chance to purchase tickets for their preferred match”

“The start of the online ticket sale is a key milestone in the countdown to the ICC World Twenty20 2016, and we are providing a level playing field, for fans to secure their individual tickets for the T20 extravaganza,” said Mr. Anurag Thakur, Hony. Secretary BCCI.

“One of BCCI’s mission is to grow the game of Cricket and ICC WT20 2016 represents a golden opportunity to reach, engage and inspire newer audiences across India and around the world,” he added.

A BCCI Press release stated:

“BCCI has appointed BookMyShow as the ticketing agency for the ICC World Twenty20 2016. Phase One of the ticket sale will see tickets go on sale for the matches (excluding India matches and the Semi Finals & Final) to be played at the following venues — Bangalore, Chennai, Dharamsala, Kolkata and Mohali. The online sale of tickets as indicated above will commence at 12:00 noon on 24th February 2016,”

Apart from this the tickets for the four India games along with the semi-finals and the final will be sold online by a lottery system. The participants in the lottery need to register by filling the online registration form, with details about the match they wish to apply for, which will then add them to the pool and be eligible for the lottery.
