Top 10 Batsmen Fastest To 6000 ODI Runs: ODI format came into existence in the early 1970’s. It revolutionised the game in the same way T20 did in the last decade. Batsmen require adaptability, techniques as well as quick scoring abilities to be successful in this format which neither allows mindless big hitting nor gives you infinite overs to build your innings. He would usually play aggressively but could also simply occupy the crease, if the situation demanded. Kirsten took 160 innings to cross 6000 runs. He stands at 9th position in this list. He ended his career with 6738 runs to his name. 8. Dean Jones (Australia) – 157 innings Dean Jones of Australia. He was a batting genius with natural counter-aggressive batting flair which was perfectly suitable for ODI format. He played 299 ODIs for West Indies and amassed over 10, 000 runs. He reached 6,000 runs in 155 innings and is the 7th fastest batsman to reach this milestone. 6. Matthew Hayden (Australia) – 154 innings Matthew Hayden. The powerful left-hander scored 6,133 runs in his ODI career in which he began in the year 1993. He reached 6000 runs landmark in his 154 innings and is the 6th fastest batsman to do so. 5. He has mesmerised everyone with his breathtaking display of batting and has revolutionised the art of batting in the shorter format in recent times. At present, he is the most versatile batsman in the world. He sees no limit as far scoring runs is concerned. In the past few years smashed numerous records. AB de Villiers has played 190 runs so far in his career and scored over 8000 runs. He reached the 6000 run landmark in his 147 innings and stands at number 5th in this list. 4. He was not only a tough and inspiring leader but was also a fantastic stroke player. Ganguly took 147 innings to score 6000 runs. He achieved this feat against Pakistan at Sharjah. 3. It took Richards 141 innings to reach 6000 runs. He was the fastest to reach this milestone until Virat Kohli broke his record. 1. He is a perfect example of a batsman full of self-belief, determination and hunger for run scoring. He is currently the vice-captain of India ODI team and has also captained on a few occasions. Virat Kohli took just 136 innings to reach the 6000 run landmark. 1. Hashim Amla – 123 Innings Hashim Amla. A right-hand batsman Amla is one of the coolest openers we have seen in ODI cricket. Amla has appeared in 123 innings for the Proteas and has completed 6000 ODI runs, he now also holds the record for being the batsman fastest to 6000 ODI runs, beating Virat Kohli’s record. He has been chasing and beating Kohli in the fastest record list since 2000 runs. Amla has also struck 21 hundreds in his career thus far along with 28 half-centuries.
