Ponting was marked early in his career for greatness by former Australian cricketers and he proved them correct with over 13,000 runs in both Tests and ODIs. A prolific scorer on leg side, he adapted well to spin as well. He was a wonderful ODI player due to his aggressive strokes and spin playing capabilities.
Ricky Ponting was a part of 3 World cup winning teams and captained the Australian team in 2 of them. Only behind Sachin Tendulkar in term of most runs in both Tests and ODIs, Ricky Ponting is and will remain one of the greatest batsmen in modern era of cricket.
