Top 10 Batsmen with most runs in List A career: The List A cricket includes all the records made in One Day international cricket and One day domestic matches all around the world. Desmond Haynes (1977-1997) M: 419 R: 15651 A: 42.07 H: 152* 100s: 28 50s: 110 (Photo Source : Getty Images ) One of the most prolific openers in List A cricket, Desmond Haynes played for various teams apart from the West Indies and his home country Barbados. He played cricket for Middlesex and Scotland in county cricket and for Western Province in South African List A. Haynes was the first batsman to score more than 12 ODI hundreds and first to 8000 ODI runs. He famously quoted that his record of 17 ODI centuries will not be broken any time soon. Desmond Haynes was the perfect foil for his more aggressive partner Gordon Greenidge. Haynes was the part of 1979 World cup winning team and had a wonderful international career that ended in 1994. Desmond Haynes is the only international cricketer to score a century on his ODI debut and his final ODI. 9. He moved to England in hopes of an international career due to the ban on South Africa due to apartheid. A middle order batsman and occasional medium pacer, Lamb became an integral part of the English outfit because of his attacking batting. Lamb was a part of English teams who took part in the 1987 and 1992 World cup finals. He was also the member of team in 1983 World cup where England were beaten by India in semi-finals. Allan Lamb is famous for making 17 runs single-handedly against Australia to win the match in 1986-87 triseries match. 8. Sanath Jayasuriya used his strong forearms to cut and pull the ball savagely. His fitness and agility meant that he was able to play international cricket well into the age of 40 years of age. Jayasuriya also held the record for fastest 100 and fastest 50 in ODI cricket. He was also the man of the tournament in the 1996 World cup. 7. He was quite adept at both the front and back foot play on every kind of pitch. He scored runs not only in the West Indies but also England, India, Australia and Pakistan. Greenidge was perhaps the first of his kind in One Day cricket. An attacking opener who liked to give it back to the bowlers whether it was Lillee, Thompson, Botham, Willis, Kapil, Imran who were the best of those time. Greenidge retired from international cricket along with Sir Viv Richards, Jeff Dujon in 1991, just months before the 1992 World Cup. 6. A prolific scorer on leg side, he adapted well to spin as well. He was a wonderful ODI player due to his aggressive strokes and spin playing capabilities. Since then he has churned out runs at an astonishing rate. He has also scored 21999 runs in List A cricket and was the first batsman to make 200 runs in an inning in ODIs. A career spanning 25 years, Sachin has been an inspiration to all the budding cricketers all around the world; he has scored runs on every ground, in every country and against the best bowlers of his time. Graham Gooch is the only man to play in 3 World cup finals for England and ended up on the losing side on all the 3 occasions. Gooch was the main instrument when England reached the finals in 1987 World cup, because he swept the Indian spinners to defeat in a match winning century. After his international retirement in 1995 at the age of 42 years, he held the record for most runs in List A, which is still his.
